Authentic Vintage Portraits

Here’s a new shot, taken a couple of days ago in the studio.
This is Aimee. We used a super soft focus lens, a Wollensak Verito from 1903 (or thereabouts), for this portrait.

In fact all my work is shot with vintage large format lenses, some of them are well over 100 years old. They are the antithesis of todays super sharp cameras and were designed specifically to give a flattering rendering. This is one of the very softest lenses, it’s positively dreamlike.

The authenticity of the way my images are made is important to me. There’s no photoshop trickery here, it’s all in the craft of the camera work, lighting and lens.

I am loving this new setup and I feel the results speak for themselves…
